Certainly. One imagines a timeline in which Ian outgrew the most transgressive aspects of his edgy humor, genuinely matured (as opposed to the pathetic, performative "maturation" that has amounted to him becoming nothing more than a whiney cuck with political views to match) and started a good life a la pewdiepie.

However, the political views (and overall culture) that he and anus have selected for themselves makes them have to undergo increasingly bizarre humiliation rituals to show purity, with the (intended) secondary effect of alienating all around them, including their audience.

I don't think Anisa is solely responsible for this, or even Ian, moreso it's a consequence of being in a cult, and the fact that they're both able to hold each other to account for participating in un-cult-like behavior (like saying niggerfaggot) makes this downwards spiral basically inevitable. Other big names in the abrasive 2017 youtube commentary scene were able to successfully transition to that sort of long-form documentary-style content seen in full force, autistically detailing some thing that interests them for hours at a time (c.f fat furry pyrocynical). The thing is, making more mature content requires genuine maturation on your part: Ian took the easy way out and professes his loyalty to the cult and declares how mature and empathetic he's become, without expending any actual effort to become a bigger person.
