Watched lazerpig's "The First Tank" video and i can actually kind of see how he gained his popularity. It's only 15 minutes long, not bloated to high hell, he doesn't mention how many cocks he sucks once, and it's actually somewhat comedic. He does regurgitate some normie tier "facts" which lends credit to the idea he only does the most basic bitch research on any given topic and all that "I'm a real historian with a real degree" is a bunch of hot air he blows up his own ass.
He mentioned H.G Wells coming up with the idea of landships somehow completely missing the fact that H.G Wells, and pretty much every military officer and engineer at the time, got the idea from seeing civil war Ironclads . The landship committee was also set up specifically for the navy because they wanted to form detachments that could conduct amphibious style assaults and push well into land. When the idea turned out to be impractical it was eventually whittled to the program that produced the Mark I. Obviously he doesn't mention the parallel programms the french had as that would go against his brit-boo tank and armored warfare creation myth.
You might have noticed modern tanks don't look much like british WW1 tanks. That's because the british designs were generally quite shit. They didn't pioneer armored warfare as that would go to the Belgians who were the first to use armored cars in coordinated military operations, and they didn't really pioneer tank design either, that would have to go to the french with the Renault FT. An extremely prolific and effective tank that was endlessly copied in the interwar period. In fact most ww2 tanks track their origin to the Renault FT and the many domestic copies of it.
Much like the brits with football, they might have technically "invented" it but god they're fucking shit at it.
