Trump's quest to conquer Canada is confusing everyone (Archive)

Video transcription:
We've been ripped off for years, we're not going to be ripped off any more. I'm not going to bend at all on aluminum or steel... or cars. We've been subjected to costs we shouldn't have been subjected to.

In the case of Canada we are spending $200 billion dollars a year to subsidize Canada. I love Canada. I love the people of Canada. I have many friends in Canada. The "Great One" Wayne Gretzky! Hey! How great is Wayne Gretzky. I know many people from Canada who are good friends of mine, but you know the United States can't subsidize a country for $200 billion dollars a year. We don't need their cars, their energy, their lumber. We don't need anything they give. We do it because we want to be helpful. It comes a point where you just can't do that. You have to run your own country.

And to be honest with you, Canada only works as a state. We don't need anything they have. As a state it would be one of the great states. This would be one of the most incredible countries visually. If you look at a map, they drew an artificial line right through it; between Canada and the US. It just goes—straight artificial line. Somebody did it, a long time ago... many many decades ago. Makes no sense. It's so perfect as a great and cherished state. Keeping O' Canada, the national anthem, I love it, I think it's great. Keep it!... but it will be for a state. One of our great states, maybe our greatest state.

Why should we subsidize another country for $200 billion—it costs us $200 Billion dollars a year. And again, we don't need their lumber. We don't need their energy, we have more than they do. We don't need anything. We don't need their cars, I would much rather make the cars here. And... there's not a thing that we need.

Now, there will be a little disruption, but it won't be very long. But, they need us. We really don't need them. And we have to do this. I'm sorry we have to do this.

Here's a interesting question.
If you were in charge of the DNC, what would you do to try to win 2028? do you stick with Moderates? lean harder into the left?
If I were the supreme despot of the DNC I'd try dragging the party back in time a few generations with some changes here and there. Win back the blue collar union demographic from trump by actually appealing to their concerns instead of the patronage used for the union bigwhigs and lip service for the rest, curtail migration, economic protectionism, make actual efforts at boosting anti trust regulation, and purge the progs from the party. Issue is with all American politics corruption and patronage is rampant so purging those elements from the Dems would turn scorched earth.

The twisted thing is that they have the basic template for another workable direction they could go in the form of sanders. Especially recently since he has been spitting some facts out since I think he's realizes he's to old for president and has been cucked by his own party too many times

I hear this complaint a lot. I don't see or hear from Elon at all. I see Trump giving daily pressers. I hear from the DOJ and FBI heads. I watch congressmen and senators giving speeches.

The problem isn't Elon, it's you. You are watching things and then getting upset that you're watching them. Change the channel.

Elon has kind of Trump's problem - he speaks first, before he sometimes has all the facts. He's very self-assured, and sometimes he says dumb things and just plows ahead with them, not waiting for anyone to point out he's being a dumbass.

Hyperloop, anyone?

But I still think he's doing more good than harm.

The president is using his authority granted through the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to deport foreigners. However, the Alien Enemies Act states that it can only be used when the United States has declared war against a foreign nation or government, or when the United States has been invaded by a foreign nation or government.

Problem is that Tren de Aragua is not a nation or government. Trump tries to justify TdA being a government by suggesting that the Venezuelan government has ties with a different drug cartel which coordinates with Tren de Aragua to flood the US with drugs. All that somehow means that Venezuela is ordering TdA to invade the US, so it is legal to arrest all TdA members in the US and deport them.

His justification does not make any fucking sense. Tren de Aragua is not acting on behalf of Nicholas Maduro to destabilize the US. They are here, abusing loopholes in the immigration system, to sell drugs and engage in criminal behavior.

Therefore, Trump has no way to use the power of the Alien Enemies Act to deport these criminals. There could be another way, perhaps by Congress passing a law that allows him to extradite known members of foreign criminal organizations. He could order the Department of Justice to prioritize the conviction of illegal aliens, provide state and local officials more resources to speed up prosecutions.

There’s a lot that he could do with his power as the Executive, but the power invested in him through Alien Enemies Act is not one of them in this situation.

Oh well, too bad, he's doing it anyway, fuck 'em.

I'll go to the mat to criticize governmental overreach normally... But not when it's literal violent gang members that don't belong here in the first place. If there were justice, we would just shoot them and save everyone the money.

Personally I believe Trump doesn't actually want to annex Canada. The Canadian shit is something deliberately outrageous and salacious that the media and reddit retards will oy vey and fixate on distracting them from the stuff Trump is doing regarding mass deportation and DOGE.

It's a deliberate distraction ploy and it's working because journalists are fucking stupid.

Let me stop you right there. There IS NO OTHER WAY. This should've been done yesterday two decades ago.

"We have to import known criminals back into the United States because Trump did not do it the right way without declaring war."

I swear, government bureaucracy is drilled into people's minds to where rather than questioning the motives, we should questioning WHY common sense has to be dictated through pencil pushers.

I'm hoping that's his angle. Can you imagine the carnage of both suicidal leafs AND all those pajeets getting citizenship?

Steering means jackshit too when you’re accelerating to 300km/h in your Model S
Had a pretty sick MVA involving a Tesla in a parking lot the other day. Thing accelerated to a crazy speed in like 20 feet and totaled itself when the person hit the wrong pedal. Instant torque.

Say what you will, but that thing is a fucking rocket ship.

Now that the dust has settled, what's the actual story with the Space Witch? I've seen some eyebrow-raising pastas.
Are you thinking of the previous witch looking woman who drilled holes in the walls and made the space station smell fecal?

The current witchy woman has been stuck up their because Boeing can't make working airplanes space shuttles. Her bones might be turning to dust; we'll see how healthy she is when she gets back to Earth in a few days.

Id have a big celebration dinner with all members of the Democrat party, judges, and journalists invited; and everyone too stupid to survive would be poisoned (and the survivors of the poisoning suicided). Then I would blame it on the Republicans and/or troons, while moving the party more centrist and rebuilding the power base.

Tell progressives to eat shit. Remove IDpol and quit saying white man bad. Tell niggers that law is back and remove limp dick DAs, promise a less crime riddled America. Focus on labor and middle class. Remove sanctuary cities and tell blacks that illegal tacos are taking all the jobs. Promise no more global adventures and state a focus on removing corruption.

Also I would have a candidate with really huge boobs and was hot.
so basically just become MAGA and run Tulsi Gabbard.

the dems are in too deep to moderate, if they did they'd lose the Coalition of fags and browns and most whites are gonna stay with the repubs simply because atleast the republicans haven't spent the past 20 years calling them all POS that need to die. the only chance the left has is to hope the culture rapidly shifts back to how it was in 2020 but even then what arguments do they have anymore? the left got everything they ever wanted, had all the power in the world and made everyone's life worse for it. they have literally nothing to run on, no ideas how to make the world "better" they're fucked.

Late but was talking with a younger guy about this; when he was in elementary school he had something called "Accelerated Reading," and the points he got from their quizzes was tied to the "reading grade." I think the idea was that kids would read many books at their level, but the guy I talked to said he would just read like one or two "hard" books and not read any library books for the rest of the semester. If that's true, crafty guy.
I had AR starting late in elementary, presumably early on as it was starting to become a thing. I don't know how standardized it was but I didn't mind how my school did it, and this is all pre No Child Left Behind so not everything was specifically catered to the lowest common denominator yet

Basically the first year what we did was take a quick test, I think 15-30 minutes depending on the student's abilities. That roughly calculated your reading level and put assigned you a grade-equivalent which was separate from the actual grade you were in school. Subsequent years we just picked up at the level we left off of

The library was sorted by difficulty and the books were assigned points based on difficulty and length, and every semester you had a goal of however many points points depending on your level

Once you hit your goal you were free to read whatever you wanted whether it was above or below your level (we had reading time every day and you had to read something even if you were done), and the elementary school library had everything from first to 12th grade reading level stuff, plus some that just weren't classified because they were probably too mature for kids to be reading (not in the explicit sense, just covering things a kid would have no context for)

If you felt like you were in the wrong level you could take tests for harder books after hitting your goal and if you scored 80 or higher on a couple of them you could get bumped up to the next level

I enjoyed reading and it worked pretty much perfectly for me, I had to read highschool level stuff that was reasonably challenging for me for the first half or so of each semester that I wouldn't have picked if I didn't have to, and then I was able to go back to the kids books that I enjoyed for a bit as well, and I also tried to read something off the 12th grade shelf each semester just to impress people lol
