Probably because people are expecting the deficit to actually reduce. That things such as how DOGE are operating have not been calculated into CBO estimates and such. Taking an axe to 10s or 100s of billions of dollars of government spending in a short time span is going to have an effect.


You can see the CBO expects basically every single outlay to go up (minus FDIC).

Says 100B but doesn't say over what time period. Considering it's only been active for a few weeks though, if they keep up at this rate it could have a substantial impact on government spending. This reduction in government could be offset by the tax breaks. Essentially lowering receipts and outlays.

Honestly, given how many variables are changing, I don't think anyone can say what's going to happen in the medium to long term. Short term I would expect things to contract, especially with tariffs being put into effect.
 
Why is it such a good thing for the government to be buying crypto? these worthless fucking assets that get most of their use from scams and speculation? they might as well open an official U.S. government draftkings account.

People are forgetting that we've really been in a recession for the past few years. The media wallpapered over it to make sure Biden never had bad press and the government just printed money to inflate a bubble. There will be a reckoning and will not be pleasant. With Trump and DOGE cutting as much government as possible I really hope it can help form a true recovery. A real recovery that was never allowed to happen after 2008.

i would agree that launching $melania was retarded and locking up the network during his speech was doubly so but right now trump is hovering around 15 dollars from a high of 75ish.

Hint: if you look at your plan online, oftentimes you can CHOOSE a split. My commodities-heavy style appreciated 30% in 2008 when most of my buddies lost 40%

This is due to exports collapse. It's worth noting that the Great Depression was brought about by, among other factors, tariffs that were supposed to guard USA industries against foreign competition:

Maybe because Apple, Honda, TSMC, and many more soon to come, weren't investing hundreds of billions of dollars after the introduction of the 1930 Hawley Tariff Act. We're in a completely different economic situation.
