My fellow retards, how close does everyone think the the OP posts 1/3 and 2/3 are ready for full on greytide after we move out of pg? I know the 2/3 needs the ss14 codebase stuff (someone who plays ss14 help me please on mechanics differences), and 3/3 still needs some work.

The most consequential technical differences from SS13 are:
1) Pixel movement. Movement is not locked to a grid. While a lot of people don't like this just for personal preference, it's also led to issues they have still been unable to fix years and years later like people constantly getting stuck in walls and lacking the ability for players to collide, letting you run under anybody's feet and making combat a joke.
2) Predicted networking. This enables the game to be more 'playable' at high ping. The networking model was made by Sloth, an Australian who cannot find anyone in his home country so he grooms teenagers half his age that live across the world in Spacemans. The issue with this is that, due to the high level of client trust, much more complex cheats are trivial compared to BYOND. Yes you can do a lot of shit in BYOND too but everything being on server stops some of the really egregious stuff. The discipline on validating client messages to server is also abysmal. For an example of another game that had this problem of trusting clients way too much, look at the crazy shit hackers were able to do in ARMA 2 / DayZ.
3) YAML / C# distinction. In SS13, just about everything is in DM. SS14 as a codebase is split into C# and YAML. While on its face this isn't a bad change, and in a commercial game for mod support or something this would be great, in practice is means the github is constantly clogged by PRs from technically illiterate retards adding more fetish clothing and pride pins. This is why, despite 30,000+ PRs, the game is less feature complete than goon's 2010 release r4407. I don't know how much it took to get to R4407, but they much have been literally orders of magnitude more effecient. In general for SS14, with few exceptions, core mechanics are incomplete, ugly, and janky, while there's thousands and thousands of keanu chungus wholesome 100 plushies and underwear and socks and genderspecial pride pins and references to furry porn memes that add nothing to the game besides making it uglier.
