You know what they did that this didnt? They didn't make it their entire fucking personality and above all else, they have actual writing

And as for arcade, a child of the enclave who never knew his father born to people trying to hide their past, you literally have to go through the effort and get a perk or go through dialog and pay attention to what he says to know he's gay ("why hasn't some lucky bachelor swept his guy off his feet yet").

That's it. When it comes to this dragon age, the horned character. I don't even know her name. I don't care. Shes literally just there to be "non-binary". Has no substance, is not interesting in the fucking slightest, most people kill her in their playthroughs the moment they get the opportunity.

These games fail, because they're shittily written and just have shit in there to hit some arbitrary quota of gayness and blackness, forgetting that they need a story to go with it.

I haven't seen anyone post this here. EA officially stated in their press release that the game performed below 50% of approximated expectations. They hoped it would sell 3 million copies, but it sold 1.5 million. Bioware is most likely getting axed.

Also woke does go brr, but for flops instead of stonks. Disasters. No one wants to play dollhouse fantasy where you talk about your identities and little else.

Veilguard is not only their third flop in a row; it's the first one that is legitimately franchise-killing. Anthem was new territory; Andromeda was confined to a completely different galaxy with only a few tenuously linked characters like Garrus's father (I suppose one might consider it a gaiden game). Veilguard was the greatly anticipated followup to a game that ended on multiple cliffhangers a decade ago -- and with such a disastrous resolution, where is the story supposed to go now?

It was also the season of reboots where random, plucky, “B tier AAA” franchises like Baldurs Gate were able to fucking explode. (Yes, a 20 year old CRPG is B tier).

All up and down the halls the bigwigs are gritting their teeth at what is Larians literal third go at torturing their players with what on paper should an unpopular genre literally raping every other genre for like 3 years straight, wondering, “Why the fuck can’t we do that”
