He immediately goes back to giving (I assume) Melton, the fat greasy pedophile, money that he doesn't have to pointlessly argue with his detractors.

Not anymore, surprisingly:

The abrupt dropoff coincided perfectly with his bootlicking at the December 17th settlement conference, so it may have something to do with his overall recent trend of poor attempts to mimic what a redemption arc is supposed to look like, which might as well include dissociating from a creep that's only a PR net loss for him. Sucks for him that he can never fully memoryhole just how strong the association was and for how long.

I enjoyed it very much!

I swear, Sharpeteer's videos on the Lord Balldo saga will be Rekieta's historical legacy. In years to come, it'll stand up there with archetypal mythical stories like Beowulf and King Lear, but Sharpeteer's renderings will be how the story is remembered.

Oh sure, there are many who did the groundwork in creating the historical record, and that work will always be critically important. But when they endow the first chair in Balldo studies, it'll be in a literature department and they'll be watching these videos.

Wonder if this is the start of the "I'm a changed man" arc? This narcissistic loser might finally be realizing that he has to follow social cues like "boasting about doing a mountain of cocaine when you're a married father of 5 isn't cool." I have a good feeling he might end up like this most of the year with lots of fake apologies and allusions to how he's "learned from his mistakes." He's gotta control that narrative, and he understands that "recovering addict" makes people like him more than being an unrepentant junkie.
Then he'll start the cycle again once he's busted for using cocaine during probation

"The government set me up! I should be able to use cocaine with my kids in my own house!"

I'm pretty sure that federal unauthorized access charge is a slow roll in the background that'll only get officially tossed at rekeita when it looks like he won't win LotY for his third consecutive year.

There is no redemption arc. When he says anything reflective or mentions mistakes, he is engaging in displacement apologising.

I made some mistakes = I shouldn't have become friends with Aaron or I shouldn't have tried to please my wife by swinging.

The 535's are a great, great pair of headphones, and not too badly priced at around 400$ MSRP. I use mine all the time and they've lasted me over 5 years of use and abuse to date and are still going strong. Worth every penny. But the a18s? For what? He doesn't mix and master music and those headphones are designed to very accurately reproduce the audible audio spectrum of which human voice uses a small percentage of unless singing. The cost/value ratio of a headset like this is completely and utterly lost on him.

I'd wager that he couldn't pickout which headset was which in a blind sound test unless he has exquisite ears.
What I want to know is what he is using to drive the a18s. I highly doubt it is sufficient enough, or anywhere close to revealing how good those IEMs are. That level of IEMs you need a very nice DAC/AMP setup to take advantage of the detail. He probably just has them plugged into his audio mixer or something, they should really have a dedicated setup.

Kino Casino is going to have a field day with this shit tonight. If the eulogy Rekieta made for their dead lawtube friend is as bad as I heard this is going to be a brutal night for him.

Anytime he puts up an apology you can feel the "even if I didn't do anything" eye rolls.

Nice work! Potentially Criminal had the best lines.

Each of my videos takes about 2-3 hours of editing per minute of the final video, not counting pre-production. And I think you were doing way more complex work than I do, so I can't imagine the time you dedicated to this project.

I enjoyed it very much!
I'm glad to hear you liked it. I agree that Sean's lines are probably the best, and that "felted" scene still gets a smile out of me despite me having stared at this for as long as I have. See I'm not funny, but Sean is naturally funny (fat jolly guys usually are), especially when he's sperging out because he didn't play closer attention to catch his own cameo - that freakout has to be one of my favorite things to ever come from him, and I will cherish that clip for a very long time.

As for time spent, lets just say I started the whole process shortly after finishing the last one. :story: Now in my defense, the first half of that time I was mostly working on it off and on whenever I wasn't busy working IRL work. But the past couple months I put quite a bit of time into it. Also that's not to say somebody more competent and talented would take that long - I'm just an idiot that only knows enough about Davinci Resolve to do this, and that's it. Lol

I have a huge amount of respect for those here that do all the "groundwork" by monitoring and archiving everything the Balldoman says and does. I don't think I would ever be up for such a task, but hopefully these three videos brought something worthwhile.

There's Beowulf, King Lear, then there's Lord Balldo - he betrayed and killed all his friends to marry a man, only for his new friends to betray him too, and constantly be pestered by his gay mistress.

This is fucking incredible.

I also never realized @Captain Manning's background was the bottle up the ass. Fucking DEAD.
It took me a little while to notice it too. At least it's way less haunting than the real photo.

I'm intrigued by the psychological dynamics at play when content creators experience a public downward spiral, yet maintain a devoted following despite clear misconduct.
What cognitive mechanisms enable such steadfast loyalty in the face of mounting evidence to the contrary?
Does this phenomenon have a name?

Last night proved to me that Nick will have a medium-successful comeback. This is a counter view to many people here who enjoy the "it's never been so over' refrain. That's a fine perspective, and often funny. I just don't think it's accurate.

The instinctive love for him from a few dozen people last night was unsurprising.

I'm not going to write a long defense of my view bc time will prove the answer but the short argument:
  • No one ever gets canceled unless they cancel themselves
  • Americans love a comeback
  • Nick has among the most loyal fanbases around. His Locals subs proved it. Many will be back.
  • The political mood supports it. See Trump's comeback. Like Trump, Nick is something of a trustfund populist that people love despite their better instincts.
  • Nick's always possessed self-deprecating humor (that hides a gigantic ego until it doesn't). That serves a comeback mission well.
  • Nick's not Ralph despite the many parallels.
Instead of Ralph, a more accurate parallel might be Destiny. Besides looks, they share a fiercely loyal fanbase, edgelord history (sort of), sexual scandals, sexual orientation issues, and known drug abuse. (I'd also argue that they both hate women but that's another issue.)

Destiny rides out his scandals with honesty about his vices and a good work ethic. Nick can easily achieve the former. It's the latter that's in question.
