It's the number one thing I want to know about what's going on in your fucked up head.

It's not hard to understand. Colours create contrasts and highlights. If something is important I will usually post it in yellow, if it's not important I will post it in blue.
Putting colours in any long text helps break it down into sections, while also bringing attention to certain parts so makes it more likely that a person will read it all the way through. Hope I could put that together for you, I know it must take a lot of compute.
