All the hair on one side of his face fell out about a year ago, and I don't think it has really recovered because he still only allows himself to be shot from one angle on his stream and the bridges podcast. Watch this clip and you'll see that 1.) the bald patch has started to form, and 2.) during the clip he takes his left hand and rubs and pinches his cheek, and makes a sort of a plucking motion with his thumb and forefinger.

Of course in this clip he's rubbing and picking at the opposite cheek which does not show hair loss, but I think this is enough to show an unconscious habit he has. It might be that off-stream, when he's not in front of his computer and doesn't have a mouse and keyboard to keep his hands busy, he's more likely to use his right hand (mouse hand) to pick at his left cheek.
