The actual "anti-fascists" had views that would get them labelled fascists themselves today.

It's not even true. Americans killed Nazis during WWII, in a war, at WAR.
They didn't go out and murder various (there were many) fascist simps and members of America's whatever fascist parties on their own home turf. They were loathed and mocked but never subjected to a real, coordinated political violence effort.
