My theory is that people who are more sexually open become homosexual or bisexual because they're willing to explore that sort of thing, whereas straight men on average don't have multiple partners and primarily have sex to procreate or only like women because that's the "intended" use of sex according to nature and so that's naturally their first thought. It's the "default setting", it's an easy choice that's made for them and they're completely okay with that. It really all is personal preference, but your preferences line up with your existing habits and how willing you are to try freaky shit. The second theory stems from the first one, since gay culture promotes non-standard relationships including polygamy and open sexual relationships with non-partners, people who grow up around that sort of thing and become gay that way naturally see it to be more normal than the average person would. So a combination of environmental and coincidental factors. Of course, it's just correlated but not directly connected, there are plenty of very well adjusted gay men who prefer to have one partner and/or a traditional American family dynamic, and there are plenty of straight men with multiple girlfriends that all consensually agree to share partners, it's just relatively rare.
