I've always wondered why Americans are obsessed with narcissism. I guess it forms the core of their culture

Like anything, people want to label and quantify things so they can understand them. The American health care system also makes a lot of money doing so as it's another to treat and manage.

Western cultures have more of a focus because they're more individualist. It's more of a focus than an obsession because it may not be more prevalent but the culture often allows it to be more noticeable.
All of our social media apps focus around portraying a fake self and has indulged that aspect of ourselves.

We all have narcissistic traits, the question is to what degree and then, what do we do about them, if anything.

Nick may acknowledge he is a narcissist but he wants to change the world rather than himself which is one of the hardest things for a narcissist to accept.

So, the judge took the matter under advisement around 4pm on 9/6, according to one of the watchers on Xitter. (Cannot confirm the time this switched over to advisement but that’s when it was noticed). Under advisement means that the memos are all with the judge and we’re waiting for the judge to decide the issue. This status would not have been changed, barring some mistake from the clerk, if they were still waiting for the reply.

IMO Nicks lawyer / one of the paralegals called the court around 4pm and let them know that they won’t be filing a reply, This is a common courtesy to the court, so nobody’s wondering if you missed your deadline / will be coming in hot with a nunc pro tunc request for more time to file your reply one week later.

Now, to me, this seems like the most likely explanation. But I don’t know how Nick’s lawyer convinced him they didn’t need a reply, but props to him for getting that through, I imagine that was a very uphill battle.

Nick's lawyer didn't file a reply because the prosecution's response to Nick's not-a-motion-to-suppress didn't even address Nick's central claim - that Pomplun said he watched NICK'S video, which was a LIE because he actually watched a COPY of Nick's video! When Nick saw the state's response he probably celebrated and sang and danced like Russel Greer did when he thought he got a default judgement against Taylor Swift.

I'd put money on Nick giving this explanation when he eventually streams about this (likely after he loses and doesn't get his Franks hearing). Could be. I don’t believe the clerk has to “push it” through the system though, electronic filings just show up. It would also be strange that the clerk updated the case without the electronic filing showing up in the system.

Nick could own the Kiwifags by going down to the courthouse and filing a physical copy, requiring someone to physically scan it into the record. I am not familiar with the local rules in bumfuck county Minnesota (some require electronic filing nowadays) but I guess this could technically be possible.

(Disclaimer, not 100% sure) Unlike the paperwork that the clerk files in the system during working hours (e.g. the bail bond receipts) Nick’s lawyer can submit documents electronically. For instance, the timestamps in Nick’s motion to dismiss show it was filed at 9:03 pm on a Sunday, which matches when it showed up in MCRO (August 18th).

The number of legal cases of some sort or another which have been active at some point in the last year involving the Rekietas and/or Imholtes is now up to 7 available through the MCRO website (not including 3 not available on MCRO and about 5 or 6 traffic tickets available on MCRO).

There have been online filings made on the weekend that have appeared publicly for view on the weekend, meaning no manual intervention is required. I THINK there may sometimes be a delay for filings to propagate to MCRO, but I don't think I've seen something that was delayed by a day or more.

I would say not filing a reply is very unexpected when the client is a lawyer who is apparently meddling in the handling of his case (according to him, he spends most of his days reviewing discovery material), has a history of smugly streaming over his lawyers' filings, and always advocates the most aggressive approach possible.

Even if Rekieta had a sudden epiphany that he shouldn't stream about his cases, I can't imagine him co-signing the idea of not exercising the opportunity to respond when their initial motion was totally demolished.

I agree that Nick's lawyer must have had quite the time wrangling him into accepting the lack of a response.
