frankly I dont think they can go back to a run of the mill Republican like before, they might try but I don't think it will work. the guy after trump needs to be a populist or a nationilist.

I don’t see DeSantis being a viable candidate unless he goes through a major rebranding. He blew his load running this cycle. He’s also term-limited before next cycle iirc, and if he’s off the national stage for a while, it’ll be much harder to stage a successful run.
I think if Trump wins, Vance is a smart choice from a betting odds perspective.
I personally like Cruz, but I don’t see him being a likely winner. A lot of people really don’t like him.
Josh Hawley may be a dark horse candidate IMO, he’s not yet gone for a presidential run iirc.

But four years is a long time, and a lot is contingent upon the outcome of this election. This isn’t like 2020 where as soon as Trump lost, it was clear to the smart money who was gonna be the nominee in 2024.
