That's actually the point where I have given up on addicts in my real life. If you're using while waiting for a drug related court date, you have totally lost control. Libertine Nick values cocaine more than anything, including his freedom. Most people I've known to lose their kids over usage were a step away from the gutter and 3 steps away from the grave. If he didn't walk into this addiction with a multi-million dollar safety net, he would have been sleeping on a park bench for at least the last year. The only thing left to lose is his life, and he doesn't seem to give much of a shit about that either.

That and his thoughts on death really make me wonder if he idealized self-destruction at a conscious level. Did he think going out in a blaze of glory was the ideal way to go out, to “make him a man”?

I wouldn’t be surprised, but I think he’s just trying a bit of his infamous edgy comedy routine here, pointing out that there’s some statistics that say women more often than not fail to fully commit suicide, but more women than men idealize it, whereas men are more likely to die in a suicide attempt as they’re more likely to fully commit and choose a definite lethal option. It’s just another one of his shitty jokes trying to make a point but absolutely failing.
