According to Google, child protection intake is just the reception and initial screening of a report. The reported incident could have happened the same day; it could have happened days or weeks earlier; or the report could turn out to be completely frivolous.

Something I'm not seeing brought up; doing the math in my head, the 2009 case would have to have been in regards to his oldest son right? I haven't exactly memorized the age of the balldo children and I can't exactly hunt it down in the sea of posts, but if his youngest is 9, and his oldest is 16, whatever happened would've occurred before the kid was one or possibly as something they picked up on in the hospital.

From the wording and the rules cited it's apparent that Nick, once a stalwart advocate for court transparency until now, must have reacted to a certain spate of unwanted publicity by having his attorney file a June 20th letter asking for an emergency order that the presumptively public court file be made confidential until a "forthcoming Motion for a Protective Order" could be heard on that issue, as well as a June 21st letter request for a phone conference after court clerks refused to schedule one without the judge's say-so.

Strong start, Frank. I liked the citation of the Minnesota rules of civil procedure to try to shortcut things. Shame it didn't work for you. If only you knew that those rules didn't apply to CPS cases. Maybe you did know, but you were hoping the judge would bend the rules for you.

I, sadly, suspect the judge will grant the motion to seal the case file when he eventually hears it, but I hope he is as much of a stickler for the rules going forward as this denial suggests.
