Don't stimulants have the opposite effect on children and adults with ADHD? It's possible they were dosing this kid to make her more sedate. They likely didn't want to take this child to a doctor to get her disorders properly treated lest she blab about the shit her parents were up to.

They can up your focus. You get much more attentive, focused, and organized on stimulants, and then as the meds wear off you come down hard and end up too overstimmed to want to do much but hide indoors and play vidya.
