I go out and do stuff for awhile, and the thread jumps many, many more pages again. Fuck me. I normally read everything in this thread when I get behind some, but this is happening so much now with many more pages than usual, and I really hate to have to resort to this, but until things finally slow back down, I'm going to start using the highlights feature if I have to leave the house for awhile before reading again. I feel like I should give some insight into mandatory reporters, as while I believe that the priest did the right thing I know how many don’t.
When I was involved, as a child, in very similar situations the mandatory reporters who were schoolteachers somehow found a way to use that status to threaten the kids with trouble. Basically, “if what you say is true you might be taken away from mommy because I’d have to tell the police. Do you really want that? Do you really want to be taken away from mommy?”
Like no, I don’t want to be taken away from mommy I want mommy to get better. So you lie. There’s a lot of people out there who truly don’t care, and just view children in these situations like stray dogs. I believe the priest in this case is a real nigga who did the right thing, but not a lot of people know the other side.
Trust me, every single second of every single part of this is absolutely horrible for the kids. I know I’m alogging, but I would genuinely beat the ever-loving fuck out of Nick and Kayla right now for what those kids are going through. I would break them like dry twigs were it legal and within my power. Words can’t describe how much I hate people like that because I know first hand what it does to the children.
They will never recover, scars fade but they’re still there in the end.

Yup. The kids need a lot of therapy. The living conditions didn't change overnight and I am certain that Nick and Kayla, like all addicts, think their kids never noticed.

Those kids now have a normal where mom and dad are fucked up all the time. They didn't even really get the daily release of going to public school everyday.

I loath to say this but statistically, these kids are facing a lifetime of addiction and other problematic behavior.
