The most ridiculous thing is that Adam didn't even fail! He was legitimately offered a teaching gig in Japan. If he said yes, he would literally go to Japan and become a teacher. But he said no because it didn't fit the exact anime dream he has envisioned for years. That's the most insane thing about it. HE DIDN'T EVEN FAIL, he just gave up his "dream" once his unrealistic expectations were not instantly met.

Looking back in the thread and a discussion from around March, it seems that he got it shortly before his most recent trip to Japan. Considering he didn't get the degree based on his own skills and merits, he probably never seriously attempted to apply to any positions which would put the degree to use.

It always felt like he wanted to "make games" in the sense of conjuring up game ideas that other laborers would have to piece together, whereas he was (allegedly) obtaining the education necessary to be that laborer making someone else's game idea a reality.

The game degree was just a larp like all his other things. I mean remember his 3D printer? He was all up on making things and then... stopped.

I think the only reason he got the degree was he wanted to work in Japan and that was the easiest way. To get a work visa if you have no money or skills you need a 4 year degree from an accredited college or university.

In his mind he did fail because he didn't become a JET but instead was offered something through Interac or some other group.

Had they placed him in Tokyo like some place really close to downtown or even in Chiba or Kawasaki where he could reach Tokyo in half an hour by train he would have taken it. But because it was a small town outside of Nara it's not good enough for him. And yet... that might actually have been the best as being the only white face around might make him a minor celebrity and he might have been able to get his dick wet occasionally.

Or probably not. This is Chibi after all. The guy self-sabotages himself constantly.

This might be Chibi's masterpiece. It's subtle yet perfectly sums up his complete lack of critical thought or long-term planning.

"I like eating food. Maybe I should become a chef."
"I like to travel. Maybe I should become a pilot."
"I like not being dead. Maybe I should become a surgeon."

Maybe you should accept that you're a loser and resign yourself to spending the next 30 years working the one relatively well-paying dead end job you were miraculously able to get.

This isn't a compliment, but I am strangely impressed by Adam's willingness to throw thousands of dollars at these ventures, only to drop them almost immediately after.

How much did his shitty degree cost, $30,000+? That's an insane amount of money to commit to, on a whim, in your 30s. More insane still to then phone it in and get your Discord to do all the work for you.

You and I both know it would have only been a matter of weeks before he showed his dick to a student and ended up in some (totally justified) Junji Ito scenario where the village lock him in a shed and leave him there.

Well yeah which would have been kinda funny but I was talking best case scenario where after a month or so he shelved the autism and actually tried to do something productive. Yeah gimme my rainbows but stranger things have happened.

I feel like people who call themselves "empaths" seem narcissistic and it's like some form of "I am a good person, respect me" virtue signalling to the crowd. It's the same vibe as some guy calling himself "a nice guy"

I'll believe it when I see it buddy.
 
Usually, what these people are experiencing is basic "emotional mirroring," which is only one small neurological aspect of empathy and hardly qualifies as making you an "empath."

It's on the level of seeing someone sad, feeling sad, and then thinking that it's some next-level superpower instead of, y'know, the same response that any mentally sound person would experience.
