Give someone the choice between a "free" life spent in material poverty, or a life spent in a Soviet-style nation with a basic guaranteed level of living standards, and most people will choose the latter.

I don't like to identify myself by any political label and it varies depending on how tired or drunk I am. Politically I like Third Position, national syndicalism/Sorelianism, Confucianism/Asian Values, and Duginism, but I'm not really drawn to dictatorships and pure authoritarianism and at the end of the day I'm just a disillusioned centrist who wants the Democrats to be sane again like they were 30-40 years ago and the Republicans to either be functionally identical (I guess Trump, Tucker Carlson, etc. come close to the 90s Democrats) or never actually get into power.

I think I voted for the third option because of no real good reason except for one thing. If only a government could just avoid pandering to degeneracy. In the meantime just distrust until a lightly authoritarian (keeping the private stuff private) based on Catholic Social Teaching (Leo XIII) comes along.
