2-fans of Vic/haters of Funimation who wanted to thank him for “bringing the lawsuit to attention.”

There’s no such thing as a casual viewer of a small legal YouTube channel happening to notice that at an anime convention and waiting in a line to meet said small time legal youtuber.
That sort of thing can happen if you have several million subs, but not when you’ve only got a few hundred thousand. Low info viewers don’t want ti meet you at a convention.

This was more of a test to see if his fanbase could survive an entire year’s worth of controversy, and if he is a big enough draw to cause repeat visits, and he just isn’t. The sad reality is that Nick is not a personality streamer. He isn’t Metokur, people aren’t interested in who he is or what he has to say. His channel succeeded solely because he could claim legal expertise and could give a breakdown on the more esoteric aspects of a legal proceeding. He was one of the only lawyers giving the weeb wars shit actual coverage, which was valuable to the anime community because everyone else making videos on it didn’t know anything about the actual law.

He was one of the only sources doing daily coverage of the entire Rittenhouse coverage from a non-left wing bias, which was a valuable resource during a trial that was never going to be fairly shown in the media.

Then when Johnny Depp’s trial happened, he was one of the only places to go to see the trial with commentary that wasn’t trying to be prim and proper. Nick isn’t a serious lawyer, he’s Lionel Hutz. Technically a real lawyer, but no on you’d ever want defending you in a courtroom. His value is giving off collar but factually accurate legal analysis.

But he doesn’t want that. He wants to be the next big time personality streamer that people tune into just to see. He wants to be Ninja, or Pewdiepie, or the Paul brothers. But he’ll never be that. And this showing at anime matsuri is proving that. He neglected the one thing people came to him for and now he has nothing. Nick’s a less successful idubbz at this point

When I think "low info", I think of Trudeau supporters as an example.
