Scalzi is a goof but has the right politics to keep getting awards and publishing deals. Plus he’s not endlessly antagonistic to the public so he’s not a bad risk for his publisher.
Also he isn't a complete dick to everyone he interacts with. Politics, whatever, anyone I know who has actually interacted with him says he's an okay dude. This is probably why he doesn't have a cow thread despite his occasional Twitter tardouts.
Scalzi unironically believes that as a Straight White Male he doesn't have to try very hard to be successful and if you read his books you might be inclined to agree.
Scalzi is the successful version of Patso. He's been discussed ITT. You should search for his name. He's a buddy of Wil Wheaton too, so that says something about him. His novel "Old Man's War" has had some praise, but honestly, it is puerile, derivative and bland. Read Haldeman's "Forever War" instead.
It's almost like stupid is learning. Could this be a rare instance of a lolcow actually learning or is Pat in so much legal shit his lawyer told him to shut the fuck up? I find both equally unlikely. Pat doesn't learn from mistakes because he is too smart for mistakes, child. Pat is a published author and too smart for some child lawyer to tell him what to do. I think the more likely scenario is Pat has a lot of real life stuff going on and doesn't have time for his favorite activity, arguing with Twitter.
He also has a loving wife and gets to see his daughter.
I wish somebody would spin up a site like the old n-gate (which mocked HackerNews) focusing on Metafilter. That site is just as cultish as HN is and is arguably even worse (since it lives up to its name by spending more time talking about itself than it does talking about anything interesting).
It's not like in opera where it's over once the fat lady stops childing you, this is not Fatterdämmerung as the Germans call it, the buck has not been broken. Rick is just hibernating and gaining more weight, safely tucked in under the fart blanket on the fart couch, he will return with new found vigor and another chin or two to child another day. I think it's a pretty unfair comparison. Scalzi doesn't incessantly child at people, he doesn't grind up Negro children into pepperoni, he doesn't incessantly respond to every single troll post, he doesn't swat himself, he doesn't rape people, he doesn't threaten to wait until his wife gives birth to murder his own child and his wife, he doesn't threaten to piss on the grave of the man who actually raised the child he niggered out of raising by being a complete Untermensch, etc. etc. etc.

Actually there's a very key detail here that you can find: tricky Ricky called this one a SWAT, not a SWATTing. Perhaps the double T only applies at the half hovel, while single T is when others get the cops called on them.
Sure, the comparison isn't apt in reality, first off Scalzi tends to actually release books on a fairly regular basis, but there is something to it. I think what is happening is Patso behaves as if he IS Scalzi, since he clearly thinks he's on the same level, even though as the long list of differences makes clear, the only place he's beating Scalzi dead to rights is BMI, bigger numbers are always better, child.
