I don't know. before we could get reliable information from the ground from both sides so we could get a decent understanding of the movements. here the ground is completely confused or pretending to be so there is little meaningful information to be had. I hold very high doubts that anyone not in the immediate situation has a clear picture. No shit that Biden and MSM would say that a coup is going on, they love drama and it would be the best news possible for them. Not like Biden called Putin and asked him directly if there was a civil war going on. MSM probably saw the twitter trendings and went with it. they don't have anyone on the ground.

Nuclear ballistic submarines are announced and demonstrated to the enemy, in a sort of "nuke us and we'll take out your coastal cities in retaliation, launching from too close for you to intercept" statement. The enemy knowing that we have this capability turns a useless Vergeltungswaffe into a potent deterrent. If we don't tell him we can do this, he may assume he can attack us without fear of retribution. Peace between superpowers is counterintuitively contingent on their ability to utterly annihilate each other in retribution, it's an old concept ("MAD"). Grim, but by necessity the weapons involved are quite transparent.

I would argue that a systematic approach that cripples the US's military, intelligence, administration, and financial centers would be a way to start AND end a war on the same move. But i concede it's not very likely and would've been leaked by now.

Of course he has been briefed. It would be strange if the US went "lalala, I can't hear you" when there is something presented as a potential game-changing event going on.

Thing is, the media noise to actual event ratio does not check out. Everybody is confused. Brash statements are being made. No actual evidence of anything is being presented by anyone.

This is why it feels like a circus act. You best start believing in clown world Mr. Biden, you're in one. And all we have to go by is honking. 🤡🌏

It does seem very sus to me. Even if Wagner was paid off to switch sides, doing so wrecks their reputation and the West will absolutely backstab them after they do their job. After all, no one can risk a mercenary company in total control of an entire country when their goal is to split it apart.

No proof. Last I heard the Russians were still sending missiles into the krain. My first instinct is its bullshit and the Russians are spinning an elaborate deception. It makes sense. Like dangling a carrot on a stick and its ballsy enough to work with how desperate the Krain is. If there's anybody over there with half a brain not to start WW3 I can see them leaping onto this in desperation.

An interesting idea. But the more likely possibility is that the navy figured out what was going on and someone high up told them to shut up and not talk about it to keep attention off the biden drama. It feels like a crisis taken advantage of.

They stright up told the british not to scramble subs to rescue them early on. If you really want to be cynical you could say they deliberately blew it up. Wouldn't take much more then a light tap.
 
It is well known that Wagner leadership and Prigozhin in special are kind of insane so it is possible they would try a coup, however that doesn't make it likely.

There is literally 0% chance of foreign actors not playing a part on this. The only question is how much interference there is.

I really, really don't want to think this is some sort of CIA attempt at doing a Color Revolution in Russia. But I am afraid the people in Washington D.C. are so out of touch and delusional that they could be considering something so suicidal.
 
Wagner doesn't have large enough of a force to actually run a coup, just made a side show before a negotiated cease fire. Russia has always had a problem ruling through cult of personality and this is the side effects of two individuals butting heads. Russia is really organized in byzantine fashion with random autonomous regions and internal Republics here and there, its a wonder the fucking country works at all. Given that Russia seems rather over extended with the war I have serious doubts that they can handle a 10-20k strong force ripping up major supply lines leading into the Donestk front without it collapsing. IF this is a real shooting affair then Prigozhin has a pretty strong hand at this round of poker, the central government has to take him seriously. Putin himself probably wont be shunted off but serious consideration will have to be taken regarding the MoD by the civilian government, Shoigu himself is effectively a mob style boss and he isn't just there for looks, he is another personality that has to be entertained even if he is largely incompetent when push comes to shove.

The English language Russian telegram war channels that I follow are VERY quiet about this beyond "calm down everyone" and "the regular army is not full of Wagnerites that follow Yevgeny's every word"
