🌟 Internet Famous Linus Gabriel Sebastian & Linus Media Group / Linus Tech Tips - Narcissistic corporate shill YouTuber driving his media empire into the ground. KILL COUNT: 2

I saw a smaller youtuber get hacked by the people pushing the same scam (tesla crypto shit) a few weeks ago. That time, it was a targeted email phishing op (review code/sponsorship for a game the guy has been looking forward to) that went for a week and the payload was a .pdf file.

That also happened to another smaller youtuber some months ago the same way. It's pretty funny how they keep falling for this shit despite others getting their channels hacked all the time around them. No one learns anything.

Did anyone archive the privated videos that were made public? Willing to bet there's some major hidden L's there.

Also it goes without saying, but
lol, lmao even

Happened to a fire emblem channel that I watch recently, he made a nice video going over what happened. Basically they trick them into clicking a .pdf.exe on google docs, but you don't see the .exe until you click it.

Once again Microsoft's decision to hide file name extensions by default causes trouble. It's almost as if that's a bad idea or something.

This is getting pretty common. Happened to Memology 101 a few months ago, exact same thing with all the videos going down and getting replaced by 24/7 livestreams shilling crypto. Took about a week for him to get his channel back, but I think this channel probably has better connections so I would expect it to be a much quicker turnaround.

There's no such thing as a "tech youtuber" just a person vulnerable to hacks like the rest of them,
so does this mean what now? who's benefit to what?
Holy shit they got hacked up alright. damn
Well, shit happens to the best of us! Remember, even Jim Browning got scammed at one point! All you need, even if a tech expert, is a moment of not being careful for shit to happen.
Who knows, maybe Linus could participate in the personal tech fuck up thread!

I tried downloading all their unlisted videos but I only got a dozen of them before the temporary channel was deleted.

I did manage to grab most of the titles and thumbnails though:
Byuu must be rolling in his alleged grave to see ZSNES being used! Please tell me this was a REALLY old video made before SNES9X started using blargg's audio core as used in BSNES. ZSNES is only useful for the super crappy Intel Atom netbooks from the late 2000s, though even SNES9X 1.53 will run without major hiccups most of the time.

In any case, bottom line, LMG really needs a few more Anthonys. Yeah, he is a fat fuck and sure does make some powerleveling tweets, but he is still the most tech knowledgeable guy in the team, no contest. And none of his Twitter fits can take that away!

It's a good reminder that YouTube is run by an incompetent bunch of retards who can't even run their own support service on their own platform, and have to do it on Twitter through complaint volume instead.
When it comes to big tech companies you should never attribute to incompetency that which is adequately explained by malice.

How the fuck does that happen to a "Tech Youtuber"?
A couple ways
1. Someone handling the channel was compromised. He has employees afaik, so there's multiple people who could be targeted.
2. LastPass. Someone mentioned they sponsored a video. It's possible they were got this way, but I'd expect them to have migrated somewhere else by now, too.

They are what now, a 100 men strong company? How do they not have security measures in place? If this was a mom an pop cocking channel I could understand this, but for a tech focused channel this stuff is baffling to me.
Companies get hacked all the time. I'd reckon it'd be more likely for a channel to get hacked the more people are involved. As your inner circle grows so does your surface of attack.
