A lot of people rightfully bemoan the trans-fueled extinction of the tomboy, but a similar situation that's overlooked is the slow marching genocide of the noble neckbeard. So many of these trannies look like you shaved down Comic Book Guy and dressed him up in Xena Warrior Princess cosplay.
They have a bad reputation but I always liked neckbeards. They could talk about weird science fiction novels or niche JRPGs and there was something refreshing about their lack of social grace and complete devotion to Pathfinder builds or Zork lore or whatever bullshit.
I used to see neckbeards in public and think, "I bet that guy is awesome. I bet he practices with his katana in the backyard." Now when I see one I wince because I have to wonder if he's an ABDL with a sissy fetish who wants to be mommydommed by his male girlfriend.

I've been into tabletop RPGs and wargames for decades, and whenever I think back on the several dozen neckbeards I've met in that time and haven't seen in years, and I think about the very real possibility that at least one of them has probably gone full troon, it makes me very sad. I think what most people who don't know actual terminology mean by "broadsword" is basically a hand and a half or two handed bastard sword or longsword, or the type seen in Robert Howard or David Eddings Fantasy novels, as opposed to an actual basket hilt Broadsword, the same way people confuse rapiers for anything from small or backswords to epees or the things you see on 3 Musketeer movies.
Source: I used to train HEMA in my 20's when I was a goofball, (single handed sword and round shield in my case.) It's a great way to keep fit and I used to be huge history nerd into Talhoffer and Leichtenauer and historical fencing.
Its the sort of thing unless you're a historian or a total geek you grow out of but I still remember the terms, and its fun, it's just a young man's thing.
