I've got an alternate take on what Fat means here. I think he's trying to say the whole idea of a two parent household with happy children is outdated, and you 1) can't really get that anymore, and 2) shouldn't really want it anyways. I think he's trying to posture himself as superior for not wanting a happy, domestic side to his life. What it really does is make him look pathetic - because a happy family is imminently possible if you aren't a twitter addicted narcissist with no job prospects and a complete inability to interact positively with other humans.

If he hasn't at this point he never will but you're assuming that his goal actually is for it to stop. Many speculate that it's the only interaction he gets and he's kind of stuck with it but wants to keep up appearances, if he stopped replying altogether or just struck up a regular conversation he wouldn't be Rick.

There was a point about 2 and a half years ago where he suddenly stopped calling everyone "child" and started calling everyone "stalker". He probably thought the police would take his grievances against our legally protected free speech more seriously if he reframed it. They didn't.
