This is Robyn's 18 year old son Magnus. He's autistic and bisexual. Last year on Mothers Day he called Robyn 'mom' for the first time. Oddly enough, in more 'feminist' countries, you see women in women's studies and 'non academic' fields, but in societies where there IS misogyny, you see a lot of women in harder sciences. Lots of Russian women became rocket scientists, for example. It's an interesting paradox.

The reason russian women are rocket scientists is likely because of the commies and not because of how un-feminist they are.

Commies used to be big on science, the whole USSR going out of it's way to fund great scientific programs and education for the masses. Citizen needed to be educated and they ment women too. Gender equality was considered ideal at least in theory.
The emphasis was put on science over other subject because they wanted to create Soviet scientists and believed those field to be crucial for the success of the communist project.

Plus the whole Space Race, nuclear race... money and ressources went into those field, it was a National Priority to have loads of engineers graduating every year and putting their brain to work to further the country and compete against the West.

So their science departments probably have been populated by women since then and that creates incentives for new women to go into them. Plus even after the fall of communism they still have an hard-ass culture.
