I think I understand what they're trying to say, but it does sound dumb. The problem is most people have no idea what a happy or meaningful life looks like. If I'm not constantly traveling to the most beautiful places in the world and having mind-blowing sex every night doesn't mean my life is unhappy. But that's exactly what some people think it takes to happy... Just because my name won't be remembered for eternity doesn't mean my life is without meaning. People just need to learn to define things for themselves and relax a bit. Stop over analysing everything and for fucks sake, get off the internet now and then.

Epicureanism. One of the lesser known Greek philosophies because everybody fucking hated that guy because he believed people had free will and gods didn't bother with interacting with humans. Happiness came from the removal of pain and fear, materialism bad, and politics bad (I bet he would have thought the internet was the worst thing ever). A solid believer in the "bros before hoes" field of study, he regarded sex as something unimportant and believed the greatest earthly pleasure came from dinner with friends. His beliefs on atomic materialism were really advanced and somebody wrote a book on how the rediscovery of Epicurean physics in De Rerum Natura was the end of the dark ages and the beginning of the Renaissance because it was just that good. Of course, because he was a godless heathen, his philosophy was also hated during the Renaissance.
