Why the fuck is he still in Kiev? Does he have a death wish?
I don't understand why he's not getting the fuck out. Maybe he's worried that he'll get conscripted the second he leaves the hotel. That's literally the only reason I can think of that would make him stay.

He's been leaving the hotel, he walked the streets earlier today calling reporters pigs. I don't really think he can leave, I mean the mayor said the city was surrounded and he definitely can't go back to Kharkiv. I don't think being conscripted would really be a worry, I mean he has a Chilean passport. I don't think the Ukranians are crazy enough to forcefully press foreigners into their army.

They're assembling foreign battalions for propaganda purposes not to different than the Kurds. Only difference is the Kurds were getting highly skilled, highly motivated veterans from militaries from the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. He was only supposed to be in Kiev for a day, he had to attend to some administrative process relating to his visa, and they were holding his passport there for over a month. He claims he doesn’t have a feasible way of getting back home at the moment. He arrived by plane, but all flights are canceled and every train is booked. Even if he obtained a car, the traffic would be horrendous right now and the distance home is 500 km.

The family in Kharkov is safe according to him and he’s just sitting in the spa room patiently awaiting disaster. Another wonderful thing to “cross off the bucket list” as he put it.
