It does reveal some glaring flaws in their strategy and armament though. As has been noted by others, they cannot afford to lose too many of their newer machines and a lot of their ground forces are outdated for any offensive push. They are utterly reliant on maintaining air superiority. Against another western power, they'd likely lose in an offensive -or- defensive war, though the latter they'd absolutely hemorrhage the other side before they went down.

Their strategy against the US is much different. It's just an updated attrition battle the Russians are known for. They just mass supply cheap and plentiful counters to the US war machines. If they need 100 cheap AA positions to destroy a 30 million dollar aircraft, it's still a win on the accounting spreadsheet.
