There's also the other side of the coin, in which people who are trans are considered to be the gender they identify as because they chose that identity. No further evidence needed. It was a mis-step, turning transsexuality in itself into anything other than a mental illness. And the ultimate problem with accepting this new identity at face-value is the self-destruction that results. While I'm sure actual transsexuals would see it as a whataboutism, I nonetheless found myself comparing it to something like schizophrenia. Think about it: a schizophrenic can legitimately consider himself to be the Pope, or to be a part of some great conspiracy. Yet we know not to indulge them in their delusions; so why is believing yourself to be the opposite gender something we're supposed to take seriously?

Lol the Ukraine is basically where Russia is in terms of trans rights. In both countries its legal to transition. Russia has the anti-promotion law, but that one is specifically about same sex relationships. The people being targeted in Chechnya are all gay men. Russia isn't great by any means but like, Hungary has explicitly passed a law ending recognition of trans people's chosen gender. They are waaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyy more vicious than Russia is, Orban is basically a Nazi and probably would have all gender variant people put into death camps, and they're part of the EU. And in Poland, the hoops you have to jump through for transition are enormous, because any surgery causing infertility is illegal. You have to basically prove to the court that you should be exempted from the rule. The idea that Russia some sort of Anti-Trans hub is bullshit. It's fucking hilarious how everything is fed through this distortion filter that makes the current enemy of America they evil puppy kicking transphobe supervillains. People love to be useful idiots, don't they.

The thing about most ex soviet countries, especially those who aren't in the EU or have tried to get closer to the western world have really shitty law systems in place, pretty much leftovers from their communist times. Communism law was a joke, and it relied heavily not on judges and laws but on the state and police. After the breakup of the USSR most of the countries kept most of their laws and penal codes almost similar to the ones in the past, so the laws are shit as a result and mean mostly nothing. Also I think Putin, and many other Russian officials don't know jack shit when it comes to troons. They probably think transitioning in the same terms troons think about it, that comrade doktor gives them some medicine and transforms man into woman and woman into man (and if they are straight that is ok). If Russian or Ukrainian politicians saw the reality they would probably ban troons ASAP.
