At first I thought this was just a robbery but something doesn't add up. You don't break a man's orbital bone to snatch a purse. You do the bare minimum damage and run like hell. There has to be a reason why they fucked him up as bad as they did.
 
No, you shouldn’t feel any sympathy for ralph, because every bit of drama and controversy to do with ralph is instigated by him for no reason except to annoy people and get him more attention (think live-streaming Chris Chan arrest, trip to Portugal, revenge porn). So yes I am glad that he actually got hurt for doing this for once.
 
I think (and maybe this has been touched on earlier, and if so I apologise) this is probably the end of the Killstream with Ralph using his webcam. And while it might be too early to say, it well and truly looks like the Gunt has fucked up his face, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's some permanent damage there. And given Ethan's narcissism, I don't think he's the sort to wear his scars loudly and proudly. Maybe once or twice. But the Ayy-Lawgs would be quick to remind everyone how retarded the entire premise of going to Portugal was.

But also, because of that narcissism, I wouldn't be shocked if we have a longer term plastic surgery arc. Where Ralph, back in the States gaslights himself into getting increasingly ghastly surgeries in order to own Null, the Farms and his other antagonists. In turn, becoming a somehow even fatter, more bloated version of the Bogandoffs as he spirals to get bigger and bigger surgeries.
 
Here's something that hasn't been considered yet, Ralph is the stereotype of an ignorant American and he loves talking shit about people's family. People from Hispanic countries (or whatever Portugal is) take anything about their mothers incredibly seriously, even a "yo momma" joke to them is like going into the hood and screaming nigger at a feral pack of niggers listening to a boom box.

So my guess is Ralph got into a verbal shouting contest with someone and said something about their mother and that just set them off to the point they tried to cave his skull in.
 
Where should the gunts world tour take him next? What strange and exotic new lands can Ralph get mugged in next time? I hear Ukrain is absolutely lovely around this time of the year.

My guess is the beating came first and the decision to rob came second. The taking of the items was most likely an afterthought.
 
In my opinion he never had the bag stolen. He had to throw it away to make his story work - he got beat for some other reason.
There's no way he chased down and caught up with a theif. Does he think thieves go around grabbing stuff, then dashing around the corner where they loiter with there cronies - jumping on their victim if they dare to show up, with their thief buddies.
That's not how it fucking works - it sounds like he copied this story right out of a movie.

Snatching thieves (not pickpockets) in portugal are mostly young teenagers who are not prepared to be putting up a fight with anyone - they target tourists and their entire strategy is to grab something big and get away fast.
Can you imagine Ralph zipping through the narrow, steep streets of portugal after a skinny homeless mudskin child? Not a chance in hell.
Pickpockets in portugal on the other hand are kind of like a step above in criminal class you could say.

Even if his story was true and this gang of baddies did beat his ass after he did what he said happened - there is NO WAY they would have just taken the bag and left the other things he described. Especially if they had enough time to give such a severe beating and "long fight" as Ralph puts it - they would have had ample time to loot all his valuable shit. ESPECIALLY IF THEY WERE FUCKING THIEVES TO BEGIN WITH LIKE HE SAID.
Why the hell would a supposed 'theif' switch his main priority to beating rather than robbing for no apparent reason, especially when his victim is now essentially totally vulnerable.

Gunt probably thought in his head "What's an item I took out with me that I'd be least pissed about using in a robbery story" and he chose the bag and his cards, the least 2 valuable things he had on him (((they)))) could have taken. Nothing adds up.

I wonder what he fucking did to get beat though. I'd pay good money to find out.

If he truly has to get surgery in Portugal over this shit, I find it an extreme hilarious outcome of fate and karma that he talked all that good shit and rubbed it in Spedski's face about going to Portugal - only to get his fat ugly mug bashed in and having to pay for surgery.

Funny enough it's gonna be cheaper than with insurance in the states so silver lining, heh Gunt? :story:

I think it is pretty much standard that if you are treated in hospital for injuries that were obviously inflicted by someone against you, doctors are legally obliged to contact the police.

And if there is a police investigation you will know how much he lied.

I would not be surprised if he picked a fight in some back ally brothel, and the bouncer beat him up on the way out.
