I don't know how it is in Portugal but in most first-world countries the only reason you'd get fucked up like this is because YOU fucked up in some way. Maybe he was walking around with his expensive manbag in the wrong part of town. Maybe he was trying to score some drugs or he met someone at a bar who told him they could find him a hooker. Maybe he was just stumbling drunk and some opportunistic people saw him as an easy target.

The moral of this story is, as per usual, this is entirely his fault in some way.
